This study is a presentation of the speech held at the Erlangen-Nürnberg University on the occasion of the symposium honouring Professor Fairy von Lilienfeld at his 90’s anniversary. The study analyzes the contributions of the representatives of the Eastern Christian Theological Institute in Erlangen, specially those of Professors Lilienfeld and Felmy. The analysis attempts to show the importance of their research in the field of Orthodox theology by emphasizing the Protestant background for many of the themes suggested by the Evangelic theologians from Erlangen, such as the issue of universal priesthood.
